O fool, to try to carry the self upon
thy own shoulders! O beggar, to
come to beg at thy own door!
Leave all thy burdens on his hands
who can bear all, and never look
behind in regret.
Thy desire at once puts out the light
from the lamp it touches with its
breath. It is unholy- take not thy
gifts through its unclean hands.
Accept only what is offered by
sacred love.

अपने को ही अपने कंधों पर बैठाये अज्ञ दुखारी।
अपने ही दरवाजे पर तू भीख माँगता खड़ा भिखारी॥
क्यों न उसी के हाँथों में निज सारा बोझ डाल देता है
जो प्रसन्नता से हँस हँस सबका बोझा सम्हाल लेता है
उसको सौंप न पुनः देख पीछे ले पछतावा लाचारी-
अपने ही दरवाजे पर तू भीख माँगता खड़ा भिखारी॥
तेरी इच्छा का श्वांसानिल तेरी दीपक ज्योति बुझाता
इससे मत उपहार माँग कुछ यह तो महामलिन है दाता
पूत प्रेम पंकिल मिलता जो वही करो स्वीकृत सुखकारी-
अपने ही दरवाजे पर तू भीख माँगता खड़ा भिखारी॥
